High River Fire Department

Since 1906 the High River Fire Department has been serving our community with Pride, Professionalism, Honor & Integrity.

The High River Fire Department (HRFD) strives to operate as effectively and efficiently as possible while maintaining what is most important; the safety of our firefighters and those who live, work, and visit the Town of High River.

HRFD operates with a Chief, Deputy Chief, Administrative Assistant, 4 Captains, 6 Full time firefighters, 1 part time Inspector and 34 casual firefighters, and we provide 24-hour service to the community & surrounding area.


The High River Fire Department is dedicated to providing fire suppression, prevention, public education and rescue services as our part in preserving and enhancing the quality of life by aiding in providing a safe community for our residents, businesses, and our environment.

What do I need to know to apply?

Before you apply, you must:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Have at least a High School diploma or equivalency
  4. Have a valid Class 5 driver’s license with less than 6 demerit points and no current or pending suspensions.
