Resident Survey - Help Develop the Town's Active Transportation Plan
Take the Survey! Help Develop the Town’s Active Transportation Plan
High River Residents are invited to complete a survey that asks for feedback and comments about Active Transportation in High River.
The survey includes images and a map to assist in completing the questions, and provides opportunities to review options and comment on:
Overall vision, goals and principles of a new Active Transportation Plan (ATP); ATP Priorities; Infrastructure modifications or changes to: Sidewalks, Happy Trails and Bike Lanes; Proposed ATP network and Identify gaps in a proposed ATP network
Read the Active Transportation 'What We Heard' Report - a summary of resident feedback.
The survey deadline is April 7, 2023. Plan to attend the 2nd Climate Change Open House on April 17 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex. Look for us in the lobby. Concession drink tickets will be provided. Be sure to enter your name for a door prize - a single use family pass to the Rec Complex! See you there.

Purpose of the Projects - Background Information about the Action Plans
Developing High River’s first Climate Change Action Plan
The intent of this project is to:
- Build capacity within the community to understand the impacts of climate change.
- Identify actions that will build resiliency in the community.
- Draw on the experiences and knowledge of High River residents and engage with students.
The Town has received $80,000 in funding from the Climate Resilience Capacity Building Program to support the plan's development.
Developing High River's Active Transportation Plan
The intent of this project is to:
- Develop a local strategy focused on cycling, walking and other active transportation.
- The Town has received $50,000 in funding from Infrastructure Canada to complete an Active Transportation Plan.
Task Force
A Task Force made up of community members, Administration and a member of Council will help ensure community knowledge and experience are reflected in both of these plans.

How do the Climate Change Action & Active Transportation Plans fit with the Town Plan?
The 2022-2042 Town Plan is still in development. A first draft will be available for review this spring. Anticipated completion and review of the final plan is expected this summer. Here is how the Climate Action Plan relates to the themes identified by High River residents for the 2022-2042 Town Plan.
The Active Transportation Plan will also fit with the following Town Plan themes:
