The Town of High River is committed to providing current information about upcoming major construction projects that may affect residents.

The following projects are expected to take place in the spring, summer and fall of 2019. More details such as start dates, locations, detours will be added as information becomes available.

NOTE: High Country Drive from 7th Street NW to the access into the commercial development will RE-OPEN on the afternoon of Thursday, December 5, 2019 and remain open for the winter.
  • Work on the Sanitary Forcemain and Lift Station Decommissioning will resume in Spring, 2020. Project Description: Construction of a sanitary sewer line between Eagleview and the new NW lift station at 7th Street NW and High Contry Drive. Detour routes will be posted. This work will resume in Spring, 2020.
  • Fire Hall expansion – minimal impact to the public
  • Downtown broadband installation – installations take place in back lanes/alleyways and should have minimal impact on the public
  • Centre Street shallow utilities relocation – the majority of work will take place within the CP lands areas and should have minimal impact on the public
  • Miscellaneous pedestrian improvements – will impact several sidewalks, happy trails, etc., in a variety of locations
  • Repaving rear lane between 4 Avenue and 5 Avenue S.W. – in the area behind the Highwood Memorial Centre and should have minimal impact to the public
  • Golf course lift station & 7 Street N.W. upgrade – This project will require temporary lane and section closures of High Country Drive N.W from Centre Street to 7 Street N.W. Traffic will be redirected using 7 Street north to Range Road 290 and access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
  • Downtown utilities finishing work – minor impact on 1 Street S.W., Macleod Trail, and 3 , 4 , 5 , and 6  Avenues downtown.
  • S.E. underground utility/mains replacement phase 3 – Top lift paving on 5 Avenue S.E. between Centre Street and 2 Street S.E.
  • S.W. underground utility/mains replacement phase 3 & 4 – Top lift paving on Macleod Trail from 7 Avenue S.W. to Highwood Trail S.W.
  • S.W. underground utility/mains replacement phase 5 – Underground main replacement on Highwood Trail between 12 Avenue S.W. and Macleod Trail S.W. This project will require a temporary closure of Highwood Trail S.W.
  • Southwest Dike – If all regulatory and environmental approvals are secured, this project will proceed instead of the above S.W. Phase 5 on Highwood Trail. It will impact traffic on 12 Avenue S.W. as road closures and detours will be required.
