Notice of Public Hearing: Allow ‘Cannabis Facility’ as ‘Discretionary Use’ in the Urban Reserve District (URD)

Date: Monday July 13, 2020
Place: Virtual Council Meeting (Town of High River YouTube page)
Time: Regular Meeting at 3pm

Pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000, Chapter M-26, as amended, the Council of the Town of High River (hereinafter called Council) intends to proceed with a Public Hearing for Bylaw 4576/2020.

Purpose
The purpose of Bylaw 4576/2020 is to amend Land Use Bylaw 4510/2017 to allow ‘Cannabis Facility’ as a ‘discretionary use’ in the Urban Reserve District (URD). The definition of ‘Cannabis Counselling Clinic’ will also be adjusted to eliminate previous concerns that have arisen and to streamline the application process.

Virtual Meeting
The Public Meeting Procedures Regulation modifies the MGA requirements and provides for meetings and public hearings to be held by an electronic means so that those entitled to make submissions at the meeting can make electronic submissions before the meeting.

Representation
Those who wish to speak must complete the Request to Speak form and submit to legislativeservices@highriver.ca or dropped off at the Town office (drop box) by noon on Friday July 10, 2020. The form can be located on the Town’s Public Input webpage.

Any individuals who cannot attend, may submit their written submissions in advance to Legislative services for inclusion in the Council agenda by emailing legislativeservices@highriver.ca or dropping off at the Town office (drop box) by noon on Monday, July 6, 2020.

Oral presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.
