Pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, Revised Statutes of Alberta, 2000, Chapter M-26, as amended, the Council of the Town of High River (hereinafter called Council) intends to proceed with a Public Hearing for Bylaw 4573/2020.
The purpose of Bylaw 4573/2020 is to close the 0.107 hectares of laneway adjacent to the Fire Hall (1010 5th St. SE), and create a parcel of land. This parcel will then be consolidated with the Fire Hall property to accommodate the proposed extension to the existing building. The Town has already applied for a Development Permit (DP#8001.20).
It is not currently possible to use the laneway as transportation infrastructure as the existing Fire Hall building is encroaching onto the laneway. The Real Property Report (RPR) has confirmed that the existing Fire Hall building was built 7.58 m into the 9.14 m wide laneway when it was constructed in 1980.The Town proposes to construct the addition in line with the existing building, which would mean that the addition would also extend into the laneway by approximately 3 m.
The Public Meeting Procedures Regulation modifies the MGA requirements and provides for meetings and public hearings to be held by an electronic means so that those entitled to make submissions at the meeting can make electronic submissions before the meeting.
Those who wish to speak must complete the Request to Speak form and submit to email@example.com or dropped off at the Town office (drop box) by noon on Friday July 10, 2020. The form can be located on the Town’s Public Input webpage.
Any individuals who cannot attend, may submit their written submissions in advance to Legislative services for inclusion in the Council agenda by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or dropping off at the Town office (drop box) by noon on Monday, July 6, 2020.
Oral presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.
