Alberta Environment & Parks approval gives green light for important project
High River AB – The Town of High River is pleased to share that it has received Alberta Environment & Parks approval to proceed with construction of the Southwest Dike.
“We are very pleased and thankful to Alberta Environment and Parks for granting this approval,” says Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “Completing the dike is an integral part of our flood mitigation strategy and we are very excited to see this project move forward.”
The dike location is just south of 12 Avenue SW. The location and design of the dike can be viewed here:
“We would like to thank the Alberta government for their continued support and funding for this project,” adds Mayor Snodgrass. “High River residents are known for their local pride and community spirit. As we move forward on the Southwest Dike construction, I’d like to acknowledge the collaboration we’ve had within the community and the region throughout this process.”
Construction is scheduled to begin this spring with anticipated completion of the dike in the fall.
