Active Living In High River

High River Tennis Club

Located in Montrose, south of the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex. The tennis courts are available to the public with a drop in fee of $10/day or by membership ($65/family/year). Visit the High River Tennis Club website for the most up to date information.

Highwood Golf and Country Club

A semi-private 27 hole golf course that is a favourite for golfers from across southern Alberta. The $4.5 Million club house officially opened in 2010. Amenities include practice facilities, driving range, putting green, fully stocked Pro Shop and complete food & beverage services. Foothills Shuffleboard Association

The Foothills Shuffleboard Association operates Monday and Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings during the months of May, June, July and August of each year in the Highwood Curling Club, along with a singles and doubles tournament each year.  The club is proud to announce that The International Shuffleboard Association (ISA) has approved the 2018 International Team Tournament be held at the Highwood Curling Club, July 15, 2018.

Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex and Cargill Field House

This facility consists of a 25 meter swimming pool with hot tub and sauna, two ice arenas, concession, and is home of the Highwood Curling Club. The Curling Club runs four sheets of ice at the back of the facility. The new Cargill Field House addition, which opened in early 2014, adds over 33,000 sq. ft. of new space to the recreation complex. The new facility includes a two-lane walking track, spectator seating for 200 people, Meeting Room, and a playing surface designed to accommodate a variety of sports such as soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball and badminton. High River Park and Trail System

High River features numerous parks and green spaces including a children’s spray park, a Skateboard Park, an Off Leash Dog Park, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, a culture centre and lots of playgrounds and picnic areas, along with 28 km of Happy Trails paved pathways winding along the Highwood River and through High River’s many parks.

George Lane Park and Campground

George Lane Park is nestled among hundreds of mature trees beside the Highwood River, within a short walking distance from Downtown High River’s entertainment, shopping and restaurants. The park is equipped with many amenities including a stage for plays and small concerts, a gazebo bandstand, a playground, baseball diamond, bocce ball and horse shoe pits, picnic tables, public washrooms and a fully serviced overnight campground. Considered the Jewel of High River, George Lane Park is a favourite destination for visitors and residents alike.

Community Programming

The Town of High River organizes a variety of community programs throughout the year, ranging from sports and fitness, arts and crafts, pre-school programs, daycamps, recreaton and special events.

Foothills Mini Putt

Located at 1204 – 10 Street SE, High River, Alberta. The 18 hole course is great for avid golfers and beginners alike. They accept private bookings (birthday parties, bridal showers, work events), please call 403-652-2018 to inquire.

Skateboard Park

The Skateboard Park offers a variety of jumps, ramps and rails. Open Daily to all ages.

Spray Park

Open from June – September (weather permitting) the spray park is a great way to stay cool in the spring and summer!

Outdoor Fitness Park

The Outdoor Fitness Park is located at 251 9 Avenue S.W., High River, Alberta. The park consists of nine exercise machines that provide a well rounded workout that is accessible to all ages, skill levels and body types. Call 403-652-4042 for more information.

Dog Park

The Dog Park is located at 139 9 Avenue S.E., High River, Alberta. You can spend time in the off-leash area with your dog and make some new friends.  Please remember to clean up after your dog. Call 403-652-2110 for more information.
