HIGH RIVER, AB: At its meeting on June 22, Town Council approved the signing of a new lease with the Silverland Camp Society for operation of the historic Scout Hall property on Macleod Trail.
The 25-year lease, with an option for 25 more years, means the Society will be able to move forward with plans to expand and improve youth programming in the region. The Scout Hall was built in 1941 and has served as a meeting place for generations of local Scouts and Girl Guides. The Silverland Society is working on plans and fundraising to improve the current structure, either by an addition to the log cabin or new construction on the property.
Silverland will pay the Town a rental rate of $10 per year. The lease requires that the sole purpose of the facility and land be for Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada programs and other youth activities and programs that are in alignment with the values of the intended use.
