Town Receives Provincial Funding for Family Resource Network
Greater Foothills Family Resource Network Will Serve Regional Needs

HIGH RIVER, AB – Following an announcement by the Provincial Government today, the Town of High River is pleased to share that it has received funding for the creation of a newly named Greater Foothills Family Resource Network. The regional program, formerly known as the High River & District Parent Link Centre, will ensure that children and youth (0-18) and their families continue to have access to programs and services that are family focused and community based.

“The Town of High River is honoured to serve as a Hub for the Greater Foothills Region,” says Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “We partnered with the province as a Parent Link Centre for many years and look forward to working with the province, our partner communities and agencies to continue to serve the community as a Family Resource Network. I commend our staff for their commitment in developing a successful proposal and thank the province for this decision.”

The Greater Foothills Family Resource Network is comprised of community agencies that will partner to provide supports and services in High River, Foothills County (including Black Diamond, Turner Valley and Longview), NantonClaresholmStavely, Vulcan and Vulcan County.

In November 2019 it was announced that current funding for Parent Link Centres, as well as funding to support Home Visitation and Resource Centres, would come to an end on March 31, 2020. Expressions of Interest were invited by agencies to apply to the province for funding as a Family Resource Network.

Staff look forward to sharing information about programming and services for families throughout the Greater Foothills region. We welcome families to the Family Centre once it can be re-opened. The Family Centre is currently closed to the public until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic but staff are available over the phone or online to speak with you. Residents who need parenting support, information or referral are encouraged to call the Greater Foothills Family Resource Network:
