Town Response to Province’s Accelerated Relaunch Timeline
HIGH RIVER AB – The Town of High River is reviewing the Province’s revised relaunch plan, announced yesterday, for Phase 2 of the Provincial COVID-19 Relaunch Strategy. Town Council and Administration are reviewing the new guidelines to determine potential impacts to Town facilities and programs.
The Town’s priority continues to be the health and safety of residents and Town staff while we reopen facilities and resume programs and services. Our focus is to make the best decisions for High River. It is important to balance the accelerated timelines with responsible and logistically feasible decisions to move forward.
As part of the Town’s initial response to the pandemic, capital projects such as pool maintenance at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Centre were moved up and will not be completed before the end of summer. As well, Alberta Health Services continues to use this space for COVID-19 testing. Therefore, the Recreation Centre will not be re-opened in the near future. In the meantime, our creative and enthusiastic Parks and Recreation staff continue to provide innovative and fun virtual programming for the community.
We know people are looking forward to the re-opening of the Spray Park. As we review timelines, the Town will announce dates for the re-opening of the Spray Park along with other updates. When the Spray Park does re-open, there will be specific rules in place, with signs outlining its future use and enjoyment.
While things appear to be returning to normal, the potential to spread the COVID-19 virus remains a concern. It is important to ensure a responsible local relaunch of programs and services. Please continue to follow all Alberta Health Services health protocols, and make responsible decisions for yourself and your loved ones.
We will keep everyone informed over the coming weeks of updates and the Town’s response to the new timelines. Thank you for your cooperation as we navigate these challenging and fast-moving events.
