Virtual Stars of High River Volunteer Event Brings Residents Together
for an Evening of Fun and Celebration

March 15, 2021

HIGH RIVER, AB – Are you ready for an uplifting event? Mark the date! The Virtual Stars of High River Volunteer Celebration will go ahead this year on April 22nd. What better way to celebrate warm weather and spring flowers in beautiful High River than to honour our volunteer stars? Let’s bring our community together to celebrate our people and our resilience after an unprecedented year.

“If there was ever at time to recognize volunteers, this is it,” says Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “We’ve all experienced a year filled with challenges. We all know individuals who have stepped up to help others in new ways. It’s time to thank those who make significant contributions in High River – to kids, seniors, neighbours, and families in need. Our volunteers keep this community strong.”

The annual Stars of High River event recognizes and celebrates volunteers who donate their time, skills and passion to make this a vibrant community. This year we have some wonderful surprises in store. Everyone is welcome to register and join the event via Zoom. It is time to bring the community together to celebrate High River, our people and a new season.

Nomination forms are found on the Town website and nominations open March 15 with five categories to choose from. Anyone in High River who volunteers can be nominated.

The five categories to choose from are listed here. Tell us why you think your nomineee should be a STAR! Nominations close March 31, 2021 at midnight.

  1. Senior (aged 65 years +)
  2. Adult (20 – 64 years)
  3. Youth (13 – 19 years)
  4. Family / Group
  5. Business

As part of the celebration the 2020 nominees will also be named Stars of High River, as the event was cancelled just as the pandemic was declared last spring. High River’s Town Council will review each nomination. All nominees are encouraged to attend this virtual celebration.

Visit the Town’s Stars of High River Volunteer Celebration web page for details and to register for this event. Make sure to nominate your favourite volunteers, and plan to attend.

Be sure to watch the Town’s social media channels for regular updates and contests!
