Wildfire Threat Ended

UPDATE INFORMATION: The Wildfire threat has ended and the hay bale stack will be monitored overnight.

Location: Fire 1: 594 Ave and 16 St W

Wildfire threat has ended and the hay bale stack will be monitored overnight. 594 Ave W has reopened.

Fire 2: Highway 540 and 32 St. E

The wildfire has been extinguished.

EVACUATION: Evacuees are cleared to return home.

FIRE RESPONSE: Fire Departments have been released

Wildfires

Location:

Fire 1: 594 Ave and 16 St W

The wildfire is under control. Firefighters are controlling 2 large hay bale stack fires.

594 Ave W is closed from 16 St W. to Meridian St. due to poor visibility. Please avoid the area.

Fire 2: Highway 540 and 32 St. E

The wildfire has been extinguished.

EVACUATION:

Evacuees are cleared to return home.

FIRE RESPONSE:

Blackie, Cayley, Longview, Okotoks, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, High River, Nanton Fire Departments are actively involved in the fire response.

There are two wildfires in the Foothills County region that are being held, the fires are located at:

Fire 1: 594 Ave and 16 St W

Fire 2: Highway 540 and 32 St. E

VOLUNTARY EVACUATION:

If you feel that your safety is threatened, self evacuate to:

Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex in High River
228 12 Avenue SE

The affected area may be expanded should the fire behaviour change. Updates will be issued as updated reports from the fire scene are received.
