Celebrate Canada Day in High River | Wednesday, July 1, 2026
HIGH RIVER – Celebrate Canada Day in High River on Wednesday, July 1, with free, family-friendly activities throughout the day. Enjoy games, entertainment, live music, food, and fireworks as the community celebrates together.
Town Facility Closures
The following Town facilities will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, in observance of Canada Day:
- Town Hall
- Family and Community Support Services
- Greater Foothills Family Centre
- Public Works Administration Building
- Recycling Centre
- High River RCMP Administration Office
- High River Fire Department Administration Office
- Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex
Road Closures
The following road closures will be in effect for Canada Day festivities:

George Lane Park will be closed to vehicle traffic. | 12 – 5 p.m.

9 Street SE from 6 Avenue S.E. to 9 Avenue SE | 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.

9 Avenue SE from 9 Street S.E. to 12 Street SE | 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Access to 9 Avenue S.E. from 10 Street S.E. and 11 Street S.E. will be closed | 6 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Please expect increased pedestrian traffic throughout the day and drive with caution.
Event Schedule
Library Soccer Field | 1–4 p.m.
- Friendly soccer games and skill demonstrations
- Enter for a chance to win FC Wild game tickets and a team jersey
George Lane Park | 1–4 p.m.
- Family-friendly games, kids’ crafts, and temporary tattoos
- Canada Day cake served at 2 p.m.
- River City Classics car show
- Farmers’ market hosted by Inclusion
- Foothills Beef on a bun provided by the Highwood Lions Club
- Food trucks
Emerson Lake Concert & Fireworks | 7–11 p.m.
- Live performances by Cookies and Cream and Simon Clow
- Food trucks throughout the evening
- Fireworks at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the live entertainment before the fireworks display. For the safety and comfort of all attendees, please leave pets at home, as large crowds and fireworks can be stressful for animals.
