Water Meters

Utility Information & Water Meters

The Town issues water and utility bills on the first week of January, March, May, July, September, and November, with payment due on the last business day of each of those odd months.

Understanding Your Water and Utilities Bill

For water and wastewater utilities, the fees are structured in two parts. A flat fee helps cover the annual operating costs needed to keep services running, while a usage charge goes towards reinvesting in capital infrastructure.

Storm water is funded through a flat fee. This fee covers both infrastructure reinvestment and ongoing maintenance, including the Town’s flood infrastructure. Storm water rates represent the largest increase this year, mainly because the Town is responsible for maintaining provincial and federally funded flood mitigation infrastructure. In addition to covering current maintenance, the Town also needs to set aside reserves for future reinvestment.

Billing Cycle

The Town processes invoices for utility services on a bi-monthly basis (every 2 months). Water meters are read at the end of February, April, June, August, October, and December of each year. Water and utility bills are mailed the first week of January, March, May, July, September, and November, with payment due ON THE LAST BUSINESS DAY of each of those odd months. For example, January and February bills are mailed out the first week of March, and payment is due by March 31.
