Earlier this year, Council approved a comprehensive review of all residential development regulations within the Traditional Neighbourhood District in the Town of High River’s Land Use Bylaw. Council also approved a plan to gather input from the community and key interested parties as part of the review.

The goals of this review are to improve clarity, align with the Town Plan to preserve the small-town character and support diverse housing options and urban design. The key aspects that people can share their perspectives on include:

• Density
• Building design, height and placement
• Parking and access
• Landscaping and amenity spaces

Phase Two Engagement - Fall 2026

In the spring, we took time to hear from the High River community. What we heard was then reviewed and considered in developing recommended updates to the land use bylaw. The Town would like to gather feedback from the community on the recommended updates this fall.

Sessions - to be Rescheduled

You're invited to participate at in-person sessions. Sessions were initially booked for 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Highwood Centre on both these dates:

• Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026 
• Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026

However, these dates will need to be rescheduled. We'll update you when we have new session dates to share.

Time at the sessions will alternate between presentations on each of the four main topics and time for discussion in small groups. This is not a drop-in open house format. It's recommended that you arrive at 6:30 p.m. to participate fully in the session.
