    Waste Collection Do's and Don'ts:

The Town's Solid Waste Management Bylaw outlines residents' responsibilities to ensure efficient, timely, and safe garbage collection. Please review the summary below to see how you can contribute. The Town reserves the right to withhold collection of improperly prepared garbage, prohibited garbage, excessive quantities of garbage, or garbage located at unsafe or non-compliant set-out locations.

    Garbage Collection Do’s

Ensure a 5 cm space between garbage and the top of the receptacle.

Ensure garbage receptacles/collection carts are placed at collection points no later than 7:00 am on collection days.

Place bins at least 3 feet (1 meter) away from other bins or obstacles.

    Garbage Collection Don’ts

Do not place garbage anywhere other than in the garbage collection carts.

Do not over-fill the collection cart.

Do not place collection carts in unsafe locations, obstructed locations, locations blocked by snow or ice, poorly maintained locations, or on uneven ground.

Do not set out collection carts before 7:00 pm the evening before collection.

Do not place collection carts together. This can cause complications during collection.

    Disposal of Hazardous Materials:

Residential garbage collection is completed in partnership with the Foothills Regional Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre (Foothills Regional LRRC). The Foothills Regional LRRC restricts the disposal of household hazardous waste, including industrial waste, radioactive waste, explosives, and more. To learn more about the disposal of hazardous materials, visit the Foothills Regional LRRC website.
