Current Road Closures

The Town of High River is committed to keeping residents, businesses, and visitors informed about road closures that may affect travel throughout the community.

Road closure information will be updated as details become available. Residents and businesses directly affected by significant closures will be notified whenever possible.

Please slow down, follow all posted signage, and allow extra travel time when travelling near closure areas.

Utility Work 

• Reason: Construction
• Date: Wednesday, Oct. 14 to Friday, Oct. 16
• Time: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Traffic Impact: Road closure and limited parking in effect
• Location: 909 1 St SW, in front of the High River Library
• Description: Workers will be repairing the storm system in front of library. A section of 1 St SW in front of the library will be closed, with detour signs directing traffic along alternate routes. There will be limited parking for High River Library patrons while repairs are underway.

Dia de Muertos - Monumental Choreography

• Reason: Event
• Date: Sunday, Oct. 18
• Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Traffic Impact: Road closure in effect
• Location: The street space between the Museum of the Highwood and CIBC at 406 1 St SW will be closed.
• Description: A live performance and filming of Día de Muertos Monumental Choreography, which is part of the 2026 Día de Muertos celebrations.

Heartland Season 20 World Premiere Screening

• Reason: Event
• Date: Thursday, Oct. 1 to Saturday, Oct. 3
• Time: 12 p.m. on Oct. 1 to 12 p.m. on Oct. 3
• Traffic Impact: Road closures and no parking in effect. Pedestrian access to businesses in the affected area will remain open until the event begins (Oct. 2, 5 p.m.); however, due to fencing, cabling, and other event infrastructure, pedestrian traffic may be redirected as needed for safety.
• Location: 3 Avenue SW will be closed and have parking restrictions in place for the duration of the event. MacLeod Trail and 1st Street SW will also be closed at 4 p.m. on October 2 and will reopen following the event.
• Description: Heartland (Rescued Horse Doc Productions) will be hosting the Heartland Season 20 World Premiere Screening on Friday, October 2nd, 2026, on 3rd Ave SW between Macleod Trail SW and 1st Street SW from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Servicing Work in Roadways

• Reason: Construction
• Closure Dates: Thursday, Oct. 1 to Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026
  • Phase 1: Oct. 1 to Oct. 4
  • Phase 2: Oct. 4 to Oct. 12
  • Phase 3: Oct. 12 to Oct. 24
• Traffic Impact: Road and pathway closures in effect. Closures will occur in phases, and signage will be in the area to help direct traffic.
• Location: Work surrounding 90 and 101 Monteith Drive SE and 1 St SE.
• Description: Crews will be servicing a subdivision at 90, 101 Monteith Drive SE and 1 St SE and 1 St SE.

Pathway & Shoulder Work

• Reason: Construction
• Closure Dates: Monday, Oct.5 to Friday, Oct. 9, 2026
• Traffic Impact: Road and pathway closures in effect. Closures will occur in phases, and signage will be in the area to help direct traffic.
• Location: 12 Avenue SE between 1 Street SE and 3 Avenue SE
• Description: External crews will complete pathway and shoulder work in phases between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9. Work will take place along 12 Avenue SE, with closures moving as crews progress.

Film Notice

• Reason: Film
• Closure Dates: Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026
• Closure Times: 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. (midnight)
• Traffic Impact: Road closures and intermittent traffic control in effect.
• Location: 4 Avenue SW, 3 Avenue SW, Centre Street SE & 7 Avenue SE
• Description: Film crews will be working in multiple locations along 4 Avenue SW, 3 Avenue SW and Centre Street SE. Intermittent traffic control, road closures and sidewalk closures will be in effect during filming.
