Cycling Without Age is back, and volunteers are needed! Help community members feel the joy of the ‘wind in their hair’ by piloting a trishaw bike. Training is provided so just bring your heart and your love of cycling!
Volunteers should be available to offer one or two rides per month and be able to pedal an electric-assisted trishaw. A passion for community, connection, and the outdoors is a bonus. Shifts are typically 1.5 to 3 hours, including ride time and basic inspections. Volunteers commit to at least one season, with a minimum of one shift per month. Summer holidays and vacations are always accommodated.
Volunteer pilots play a crucial role in enhancing passengers' social and emotional well-being by providing rides on electric pedal-assisted bikes. These rides help reconnect people with the outdoors and their community.
Cycling Without Age Canada notes the simple act of taking seniors for a bike ride helps them reconnect to their communities, nature, and the world around them. High River joined this program back in 2017 when the Town, in partnership with the Seniors Collective, applied for a grant to purchase trishaw bikes.
Over the seasons, Cycling Without Age has received incredible support from the community and the High River Hospital, Highwood Golf, Abbeyfield House, Seasons Retirement Communities and Medicine Tree Manor. We are excited to announce that this support will continue!
