Keeping High River Water-Wise: Normal Water Use Restrictions Active

HIGH RIVER – As warmer weather returns and outdoor watering season gets underway, the Town of High River is reminding residents that the community is currently under Normal Water Use guidelines. Residents are encouraged to follow the seasonal watering schedule and continue practicing responsible outdoor water use.

Sprinkler Watering (Lawns, Gardens, Trees and Shrubs):

  • Even-numbered houses – Saturdays and Wednesdays between 6 and 9 a.m. and 7 and 10 p.m.
  • Odd-numbered houses – Sundays and Thursdays between 6 and 9 a.m. and 7 and 10 p.m.

Automatic Irrigation Systems:

  • Even-numbered houses – Saturdays and Wednesdays between 2 and 6 a.m.
  • Odd-numbered houses – Sundays and Thursdays between 2 and 6 a.m.

Allowed During Normal Water Use:

  • Hand watering gardens, trees and shrubs using a hose with a spring-loaded shut-off nozzle
  • Hand watering with a hand-held container
  • Washing outdoor surfaces, including sidewalks, driveways, walkways and building exteriors
  • Vehicle washing
  • Filling outdoor decorative features, fountains and ponds
  • Filling swimming pools, wading pools and hot tubs
  • Water use for construction purposes, including grading, compaction and dust control
  • Watering new grass, including sod within 21 days of installation and seed within 49 days of planting

Permit Required:

Permits are required for new sod and seeded lawns. Lawn permits will not be issued during July and August.
