The Community Vitality Fund empowers citizens to initiate, manage, and implement projects
Each year, the Community Vitality Advisory Committee supports local events and programs which enrich the lives of everyone in High River by turning ideas into action. The Town is proud to fund the following local initiatives as recommended by the Community Vitality Advisory Committee.
Connecting Culture through Basketball
Jesus Rock of Ages Ministries will receive $5,120 to run the Connecting Culture through Basketball initiative. Open to everyone, this basketball program will be running from November 16 to April 27, from 4 - 8 pm on Sundays at the High River Baptist Church. The group will partner with Foothills Community Immigrant Services to connect participants with additional support.
High River Chronicles
Unity Film Festival will receive $4,200 for High River Chronicles. High River Chronicles is a community documentary series with nine episodes highlighting the unique stories, history, and characters of High River. The project celebrates the town’s agricultural roots, Indigenous heritage, and local culture with resident involvement.
Windmill Theatres Players
Windmill Theatres Players will receive $2,500 to support a year-end gala, ‘50 Years and Still Having a Ball!’ which will be held on December 28 at the Highwood Centre. Windmill Theatres Players is a community theatre group that has produced two mainstage shows annually for the past 50 years.
