Join High River Fire and Emergency Services for a fun-filled morning at the Fire Hall featuring free pancakes, hands-on activities, live demonstrations and plenty of fire-safety fun for the whole family. Enter to win at each demonstration for terrific door prizes.

Whether you want to explore a fire truck, test your skills on the Kids FireFit Challenge, have your car seat checked or see firefighters demonstrate how they rescue people from a crashed vehicle, there will be something for everyone.

What's Happening?

Pancake and Sausage Breakfast
Start your morning with a free pancake breakfast hosted by the High River Kinsmen and High River Fire & Emergency Services.

• Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to noon.

Live Vehicle Rescue Demonstration
Ever wonder how firefighters rescue someone trapped in a vehicle? Watch our firefighters demonstrate the specialized tools and techniques used to safely remove people from vehicles following a serious collision.

Kids FireFit Challenge
Kids can put their firefighter skills to the test! Participants will tackle a fun challenge that includes:

• Dragging out a fire hose.
• Opening a fire nozzle.
• Hitting a target.
• Dragging a rescue dummy.

Prizes will be awarded to the winning challenge participants.

Car Seat Inspections
Make sure your little one is travelling safely. Certified car seat technicians will be on-site to provide car seat inspections and installation assistance.

Free & no appointment needed; first come, first served.

• Car seats are not provided.
• Bring your child's car seat with you.
• Availability is limited, and inspections will be first come, first served.

Fire Extinguisher Demonstration & Drop-Off
Learn how to use a fire extinguisher and get a chance to try one yourself with guidance from our firefighters. Certificates will not be provided, as this is a demonstration.

Have an old or expired fire extinguisher at home? Bring it to the Fire Hall on October 4 only, and we'll accept it for proper disposal. One day only, don’t miss out!

Lithium Battery Safety & Recycling
Learn how to safely use, store and dispose of lithium-ion batteries and why battery safety matters in your home. As part of the Open House, we’re also launching battery recycling at the High River Fire Hall.

Have used household batteries? Bring them with you and help keep batteries out of the garbage.

Fire Safety Colouring Contest
We're teaming up with elementary schools across our community for a special fire-safety colouring contest!

Students in Grades 1-3 and Grades 4 – 6 will put their creativity to work by colouring a fire-safety-themed colouring page. The best entries will be selected by you. Walk the Fire Hall Wall of Fame, where their artwork will be proudly displayed for the community to see and vote on.

There's more! Winning students will also have a chance to enjoy lunch with the Fire Crew. Keep an eye out for winning artwork at the Fire Hall.

Kids' Safety Fun with Mary Lambert
The celebration continues Monday, October 5, with a special fire-safety event for children featuring children's entertainer and Juno Award Nominee, Mary Lambert. Join the fun on Monday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Academy.

Bring the Family!
Come for a free breakfast, explore the Fire Hall, meet the firefighters who keep our community safe and learn some valuable fire-safety skills along the way.
