High Country Drive Corridor Study

High Country Drive is a key east-west corridor serving the northwest quadrant of the Town of High River

High Country Drive NW Corridor Study - Phase 2

High Country Drive (HCD) is a key east-west corridor serving the northwest quadrant of High River. In response to concerns raised by residents, Council has initiated a study to better understand community ideas and opportunities for High Country Drive for people who drive, walk, bike and roll. The High Country Drive study area extends from Longview Trail NW to Centre Street N/Highway 2A.

The Town is currently in the second and final planned stages of engagement and is ready to share design options and proposed recommendations based on the feedback we received in the first phase of engagement.

We want to hear from you and collaborate with the community in exploring design options and recommendations to improve the corridor. This project is focused on all modes of transportation, including driving, walking, biking and rolling.

Engagement Opportunities - Phase 2:

Join us at any of the in-person open houses and have your say through the online survey.

Reference Material:

Please refer to the High Country Drive Informative Boards before completing the online survey or joining us at one of our public events. These boards contain relevant information about:

  • The key issues identified along the corridor are based on technical safety analysis, on-site observations, and community feedback.
  • Proposed safety improvements
  • The proposed design options for the corridor:
    • Option 1: Prioritized Locations
    • Option 2: Targeted Areas
    • Option 3: Full Corridor

Developing Options and Final Recommendations

Many considerations need to be accounted for when developing the design options and finalizing recommendations for a corridor study. Community feedback, in addition to Town policies and plans, cost, best practices, and technical requirements, was used to inform the proposed design options and will be used by the Town to inform the final recommendations.
