"Are Farmers Safe in Canada? Is Our Food Safe?"
The National Citizens Inquiry (NCI) brings a special three-day public hearing to High River — sworn testimony from farmers, ranchers, independent experts, and members of the public on the state of Canadian agriculture.
What makes this different? These aren't Ottawa panel discussions with bureaucrats reading prepared statements. The NCI is a federally incorporated not-for-profit, entirely citizen-led and citizen-funded — zero government funding, zero industry capture. Since its inception, the NCI has heard from nearly 500 witnesses under oath across multiple provinces, building an uncontested public record that government-led inquiries have conspicuously avoided.
Following a successful hearing in Kelowna (March 2026), the inquiry now comes to Alberta — the beating heart of Canadian agriculture.
Questions the inquiry will examine:

Who benefits from the current regulatory framework?
What happens to small and mid-sized producers when compliance costs stack up?
Is our food actually safer — or just more corporatized?
Why are independent voices being pushed out of agricultural policy?

For local youth: The NCI is actively welcoming volunteers from 4H clubs, agriculture programs, and local schools. Skills on offer include audio-visual production, social media streaming, hearing room logistics, and public record support — real-world, résumé-worthy experience.
Attendance is completely free. No tickets, no fees, no barriers. Location and registration details will be announced approximately one to two weeks before the hearings begin.
