Street Sweeping
Annual street sweeping helps to keep our community clean and safe for pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists, ensuring a pleasant and hazard-free environment for all residents and visitors.
Street sweeping is every spring from April to June, once snow is gone, and roads are dry. Work pauses during rain or a spring snowstorm. The schedule may shift for parked vehicles, secondary passes, or bad weather. If your street wasn't swept as scheduled, crews will return as needed.
2026 Street Sweeping Schedule | Weather Permitting
- Northwest: April 27 – May 10
- Hamptons & Sunshine Lake: May 11 – 25
- Montrose, SE/NE Central & Emerson Lake: May 26 – June 8
- Southwest: June 9 – June 23
The Road to Cleanliness
Street sweeping removes sanding chips, leaves, and debris, keeping the community safe and reducing dust and sediment in the storm system. Collected gravel is cleaned and reused as a winter pickle mix with salt.
Signage will be placed on neighbourhood streets 24 hours before sweeping begins. Here’s what to do when signs are posted:
- Move your vehicles off the street when street sweeping is scheduled in your area to allow full clearing.
- Remove any ramps or items from the street before sweeping begins in your area.
- Place garbage carts on the sidewalk or grass beside the curb during sweeping if it coincides with collection day.
If any debris is missed, crews will return for a secondary pass at a later date.
When driving behind or walking near a sweeper, please keep a safe distance away. Stones and other flying debris can be hazardous. Please also use caution when passing, as the area tends to be dusty, which can restrict visibility.
