Keeping High River Water-Wise: Level 1 Restrictions Active

HIGH RIVER – The sunshine is back, lawns are waking up, and sprinklers are starting to make their seasonal comeback. As warmer and drier weather settles in, the Town of High River is reminding residents that Level 1 Water Use Restrictions remain in effect to help conserve water and support responsible outdoor watering throughout the season. 

Sprinkler Watering: 

  • Even-numbered houses – Wednesdays between 6 and 9 a.m. and 7 and 10 p.m.
  • Odd-numbered houses – Thursdays between 6 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. 

Automatic Irrigation Systems: 

  • Permitted only on designated watering days between 2 and 6 a.m. 

Allowed During Level 1 Restrictions: 

  • Hand watering gardens, trees and shrubs using a hose with a spring-loaded shut-off nozzle
  • Hand watering with a hand-held container
  • Filling swimming pools, hot tubs, decorative features and ponds
  • Water use for construction purposes, including grading, compaction and dust control 

Not Allowed During Level 1 Restrictions: 

  • Washing outdoor surfaces, including sidewalks, driveways, walkways and building exteriors
  • Vehicle washing 

New Sod and Seeded Lawns: 

  • Permits are available for watering new sod within 21 days of installation
  • Permits are available for seeded lawns within 49 days of planting 

The Town will continue monitoring conditions throughout the season and will provide updates if restriction levels change.
