Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP)

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the 'FOIP Act') provides the public with an avenue for accessing records under the custody and control of the Town of High River while also balancing the protection of personal information contained within the Town’s records and information systems.

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the 'FOIP Act') provides access to records held by the Town of High River, including access to an individual's own personal information or general information.

How do I make a FOIP request?

If you would like to make a formal request, please access the applicable form below.

Submit the completed request form, along with the applicable fees by email to, or;

Is there a Fee?

No initial fee is required for access to personal information, however if you are requesting access to general information, then an initial fee of $25 is required before the FOIP Coordinator can begin the process.

There may be additional charges associated with larger and/or expedited requests. For all additional inquiries, refer to the fees outlined in the current rate bylaw.

If you have concerns with the Town's decision or response to your FOIP request, you can submit the Request for Review/Complaint Form to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (the 'OIPC').
