High River Fibre Optics

The Town is excited to announce an exciting project in coordination with Fibre Connect and its contractor Ledcor Technical Services, to install Fibre Optic lines within Town limits.

In 2024, Fibre Connect and its contractor Ledcor Technical Services, with the support of Town Council, began surveying and marking areas to determine all Fibre Serving Areas (FSAs) within town limits. These areas were mapped and presented to Council in November 2024. Fibre Connect aims to connect approximately 5,000 residences and businesses in High River.

How Does This Impact You?

Over the following months, residents may notice flags and spray paint marking service areas within Town limits. Please do not remove the flags or remove any markings. Following the surveying, work to install buried mainline conduits will begin, eventually providing connections to individual residences. Conduits will be built within utility rights of way.

Ledcor and Fibre Connect representatives will go door to door to provide additional information to home and business owners. During this time, home and business owners will be asked for permission to bring the service installation to the side of their house or business. There will be no obligations to use these services once installed.

Watch out for a letter from Fibre Connect in the spring for more detailed information.

What is a Utility Right of Way?

A portion of your yard is made up of a 'utility right of way.' This is an easement of private land that allows the Town and utility companies access to buried utilities.
