A Three-Part Film Series Unearths the Shared Histories of High River

The creative team behind Echoes of our Land Trilogy is proud to announce the completion of Part 1, Voices From the Buffalo Stone, and the development of a compelling three-part documentary film series exploring the layered, and often untold, histories of the High River region. Told through three powerful voices, Blackfoot, Stoney Nakoda, and Settler, Echoes of Our Land Trilogy invites viewers to reconsider what they know about the place they call home.

Part 1: Echoes of Our Land Voices from the Buffalo Stone

Told by Grant Many Heads, this film traces the Blackfoot origin stories, sacred places, and generational memory embedded in the land that surrounds High River. Through vivid storytelling and thoughtful reflection, it reconnects us with ancient knowledge and spiritual traditions still alive today.

Co-writer and narrator Jared Tailfeathers brings a grounding presence to the series, weaving oral history and lived experience into a lyrical and emotionally resonant journey. His voice helps frame the narrative, drawing viewers into a story that begins long before the Town of High River was named.

Echoes of Our Land Trilogy is not just a documentary; it is a shared journey through time, memory, and reconciliation.

Hollywood has long used the Foothills as a backdrop, says Burdick. Now, we're flipping the script, telling our story through the voices of those who've lived it, with rising local filmmakers and knowledge keepers leading the way.

Light refreshments will be served.
