High River Signature Event Traffic & Schedule Update:

Join us for exciting community events in High River this weekend as the Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival & Glow and the River City Classics Burnout & Show ‘n’ Shine take over our community. Be sure to review the road closures and schedules for both events below to help plan your visit!

Sunday September 29: River City Classics Burnout & Show ‘n’ Shine
Car enthusiasts don’t miss this weekend’s classic car showcase and burnout event!

  • Downtown High River and George Lane Park will host the car display, music, food trucks, and vendors.
  • Parking restrictions and road closures will be in effect in the downtown event area.
  • Centre Street is OPEN today.

  • Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival & Glow
    From September 27-29, watch the skies fill with vibrant hot air balloons, launching daily—weather permitting—from the field at the end of Macleod Trail. For real-time updates on launch times, visit heritageinninternationalballoonfestival.com or highriver.ca.

  • Burnout Event
    Saturday, September 28 | 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    Centre Street, from the traffic circle to 7th Avenue, will be closed for the burnout. Streets will reopen after barricades are removed.
  • Balloon Glow
    Friday, September 27 | 5:00 p.m.
    Witness hot air balloons light up the night sky near the Highwood River, past the Centre Street Bridge. Enjoy food trucks and music!
  • Road Closure for Balloon Glow on September 27
    Centre Street (from Sobeys intersection to High Country Drive) will be closed from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
    Shuttle services are available from the Co-op grocery store and High River Rodeo Grounds. Accessible parking is available on 1 Avenue NE.
