High River preserves buildings and resources that define and celebrate our past. Learn more about designated properties here.
Planning and Development Services works with Council and the public to identify and document the Town’s historic resources.
In addition, the Town continue to celebrate historic places and events, and to raise awareness of the importance of heritage conservation and protection.
The Town has placed interpretive signs at designated locations to describe some of the important historic heritage areas throughout High River.
Since 2011, High River has achieved significant progress in fulfilling that mandate, including the completion of three Heritage Inventory Projects, with support and assistance from the Province of Alberta through the Municipal Heritage Partnership Program. The final reports can be viewed below.
