Aquatic Facility Expansion Design Update Approved by Council July 10

At a Special Committee of the Whole meeting on July 4, the Town of High River Council reviewed a design update to the Aquatic Facility Expansion initiative. The design update package, including schematic drawings, received approval from Council at their Regular Meeting on July 10.
Additional design elements include upgrades to ensure the entire facility flows for users and staff. They include an expanded, community-centred lobby and other improvements to increase functionality. The foundation and tone for the updated design are in keeping with input from the Aquatic Facility Design Working Group, which includes representatives from the High River community.

This design and the additional elements are necessary to reach the working group’s goal of developing a 50-year facility. Council maintains its commitment to a People First community focusing on residents’ needs and promoting healthy lifestyles in the Town. The overall goal is to ensure the facility continues to be welcoming, fun, family-oriented and inclusive, with amenities for all users. The working group will continue to refine the design approved by Council. The costing has been updated to reflect design elements that benefit the entire facility.
Council approved moving forward with the Aquatic Facility upgrade in July 2022. It is their promise to the community, and they are committed to keeping the project on track as one of their Strategic Priorities.
