Town Reminding Residents to Replace 10-year-Old Smoke Detectors
HIGH RIVER – Smoke alarms are a crucial part of a home fire escape plan. When there is a fire, smoke spreads fast. Working smoke detectors give you early warnings so you and your family can get outside quickly.
It is important to replace smoke detectors based on manufacturer recommendations or every 10 years. Even if your smoke detector appears to be working fine, replacing it every 10 years is encouraged.
To check the date of your smoke detector, remove the smoke detector from the roof and look for the date printed on the back.
Residents requiring assistance replacing their smoke detectors are encouraged to contact the High River Fire Department via email: fire@highriver.ca or via phone: General Inquiries and Admission line - 403.652.3774.
