Community Sports & Fitness Parks & Recreation Garbage Collection Schedules
HIGH RIVER – Some Town of High River facilities will be closed on Saturday, July 1 and on Monday, July 3 for Canada Day.
Garbage Collection will not be affected by the closure, normal pick up will continue as scheduled.
Please drive carefully and note some road closures in these areas.
Facility Closures on Saturday, July 1 include:
- Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex
- George Lane Park RV Sanitary Dump (10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
** the Recycling Centre will be open for regular hours**
Road Closures on Saturday, July 1:
George Lane Park road will be closed between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Camping traffic will not be allowed road access through the Park during this time.
Emerson Lake Area road closures between 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm
- Closed to vehicles: 9th St SE
- Closed to vehicles: 9th Ave SE between 9th St. SE and 12th ST SE
**Watch for high foot traffic in the area during festivities**
Enjoy a safe and happy Canada Day with festivities at George Lane Park from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., followed by more fun and fireworks at Emerson Lake from 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Canada Day Festivities and Fireworks:
George Lane Memorial Park Activities 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Free family activities
- Eddie Whisky and Friends Entertainment
- Show and Shine - hosted by River City Classics
- Farmers Market - hosted by Inclusion Foothills
- Mexican Dancers (12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.) - IRERI MLCCA
- Diggity and Okotoks Dawgs Players (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Emerson Lake 9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
- Glow Dance Party - Bring your glow wear
- Fireworks at dusk (10:45 pm) - Arrive early, it will be busy!
- Staff will be located at road barriers to assist those wishing to drop off those who can't walk the distance or require accessible parking (located on 9th Street SE).
Facility Closures on Monday, July 3 in lieu of Canada Day:
- Town Hall
- Family and Community Support Services
- Greater Foothills Family Centre
- Public Works Administration Building
- Recycling Centre
- High River RCMP Administration Office
**The Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex is open for regular hours**
Emergency Services are not affected by the statutory holiday closures. For all emergencies dial 9-1-1.
