HIGH RIVER, AB – Work is underway for the Outdoor Court Resurfacing Project. Beginning on Friday April 28, 2023, the courts used for tennis and pickleball will be closed to residents while contractors work in the area.

Crews will be resurfacing the courts, painting new lines and installing permanent pickleball nets on one court. The project is expected to be completed in approximately 14 business days if the weather cooperates.

The Town of High River had scheduled the work to be completed last fall but the work could not be completed due to weather conditions. The project is expected to cost $100,000 and funds were allocated in the 2022 Operating and Capital Budget.

The Outdoor Court was first installed in 2011. Over the years, environmental factors and recreation play have caused the court to wear. Typically, outdoor courts require resurfacing approximately every 10 years.

In the meantime, Tennis and pickleball players are encouraged to use the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex (BSRC) field house for activity until the project is completed and re-opened to the public. Upon the contractor's completion of work, Town staff will install windscreens and court netting to finish the project.
