High River RCMP Introduces Safe Exchange Zone for Public Safety

(HIGH RIVER, AB) In an effort to enhance public safety and provide a secure location for community members to conduct in-person transactions, High River RCMP and the Town have established a Safe Exchange Zone in the RCMP parking lot. This initiative will provide a neutral, well-lit location for residents to conduct transactions that require a safe meeting place.
The Safe Exchange Zone is aimed at increasing public safety. It will provide a secure environment for residents to conduct online transactions such as child custody exchanges, and any other lawful transactions where people can meet without fear of potential criminal activity.
“This initiative is an excellent example of the Town of High River and the local detachment working together to enhance the safety of our residents,” says Staff Sergeant Greg Wiebe.
Location and Hours
- The Safe Exchange Zone is a designated parking spot marked with a sign, located at High River RCMP visitor parking, 1104 14 Street SE, High River
- It is available to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week
High River RCMP encourages residents to take advantage of this resource to ensure their safety during in-person transactions. Although the camera will not be actively monitored the location is under video surveillance.
The High River RCMP Detachment office hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Outside these hours, there is a telephone at the front door to contact emergency support if required.
