Town of High River Parks and Rec Team Receive Rick Curtis HIGH FIVE Award

HIGH RIVER – The Town of High River Parks and Recreation team has received the Rick Curtis HIGH FIVE Award from the Alberta Parks and Recreation Association. The award follows the team’s participation in the HIGH FIVE program, which focuses on the safety, well-being, and healthy development of children ages 6 to 12 in recreation and sports programs.

“Congratulations to the Town of High River Parks and Recreation team for winning the Rick Curtis HIGH FIVE Award,” said Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “We are proud of our staff and their efforts to channel the principles of this program into building even stronger relationships with all users of the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex, especially with youth.”

Alberta Parks and Recreation Association’s HIGH FIVE program is a Canadian quality assurance program. The award recognizes organizations that embrace and champion the principles of HIGH FIVE in their programs and practices. Past recipients of the HIGH FIVE Award include WinSport, the Calgary Police Service, the City of Calgary Parks, and the Fort McKay Wellness Centre.

“Thank you to Alberta Parks and Recreation for recognizing the deep commitment our Parks and Recreation team have to bringing quality sports and recreation experiences to the youth of High River,” added Mayor Snodgrass. “We look forward to continued benefits from their participation in this program.”

The Rick Curtis HIGH FIVE Award is presented in honour of former Alberta Parks and Recreation Association CEO Rick Curtis. Curtis believed strongly that recreation and sport were integral to the healthy development of children and youth.
