Town of High River to Recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

HIGH RIVER – World Elder Abuse Awareness is marked each year on June 15. It is an official United Nations International Day acknowledging the significance of elder abuse as a public health and human rights issue.

Since 2006, communities worldwide have honoured this day to raise the visibility of elder abuse by sharing information and promoting resources that can help increase seniors' safety and well-being.

This year High River will be showing support in various ways. Town staff will be handing out approximately 400 bags with information brochures on Elder Abuse to local Community Agencies around High River. Town staff will also organize the distribution of lawn signs for the week of June 15.
