HIGH RIVER, AB: The Town of High River’s Official Swearing in Ceremony and annual Organization meeting of Council was held virtually this afternoon, October 25, with a small group in attendance at the Highwood Memorial Centre.
Senator Scott Tannas brought greetings from the Government of Canada and presided over the swearing in of the Mayor and Council. “I was honoured to lead the new Council through their oaths of office,” noted Senator Tannas. “The Swearing in Ceremony honoured contributions of outgoing Councillors and welcomed the new Council members, thanking them for stepping up to serve High River for the coming four years.”
Mayor Craig Snodgrass added a personal note of thanks to outgoing Council members, who received official Certificates of Appreciation for their service.
“We have much to be proud of in High River. While the past term presented many challenges, we’ve stayed the course to ensure priority projects like the Southwest Dike were completed,” said Mayor Snodgrass. “As we begin this new term of Council, I am confident we will remain committed to serving our community and achieve our vision of making a positive difference today, and for generations to come.”
At the Organizational meeting following the ceremony Council approved the upcoming schedule of meetings and announced appointments to the local and regional advisory boards and committees.
