HIGH RIVER - Thousands of people from near and far visit High River each year. In addition to great events, unique shops and diverse dining opportunities, the beautiful setting and small-town charm create an environment enjoyed by all.
The Town’s sign standards are in place to ensure signs contribute to High River’s character. Businesses and residents are asked to ensure all signs meet the Town’s standards for quality, appearance and regular maintenance, and to ensure permits are obtained where required for some signs.
To support local events organized by Community groups, organizations and volunteers, the Town has developed a Guideline for Temporary Signs Advertising Community Groups and Community Events and for Marking Walk/Run Routes. The guidelines, a handout and application form can be found on the Town’s website. A variety of options are available for organizers to get their message out to the public.
Businesses and residents are encouraged to review and comply with sign bylaws and standards.
Enforcement of the sign bylaw was relaxed during the pandemic. As the Town of High River continues its return to day-to-day operations there will be a return to enforcement of these bylaws.
Online information on the updated Sign Regulations page on the Town’s website includes:
- An easy-to-read summary of sign regulations.
- Visual examples of permitted and prohibited signs.
- Guidelines, a handout and application forms for temporary signs to promote events.
- List of signs requiring a permit.
- Handy links to more resources.
